As most of you know we recently spent a week out West at my Daughters house.
During the week we had a chance to do a little work around the house and spend quality time with her family. Treated like gold the entire visit but most memorable was a visit by several of her best friends. It was the first time we had met most of them, and I can't tell you how impressed we were of her circle of friends. In a single word I could only say AWESOME. No wonder she always tells us how very Special they are.
I now have to tell you about a special performance one of the ladies gave to the entire family, plus all the ladies in attendance. It was an unforgettable, very professionally done, off Broadway play. The play is titled "Cork It" and was performed in a packed kitchen area, with no props necessary. My only regret was not having my camera ready as she performed to an audience who were bent over laughing at this hilarious young lady. Nobody, and I repeat nobody, could have done this play better. When done, she received a standing ovation from everyone there. I heard many of the ladies talking as they were leaving the kitchen area about how excited they were to practice some of the techniques covered during the performance.
Can't hardly wait to see when she will be performing again as it would be well worth the 899 mile trip.
And to the wonderful ladies who visited during our stay....Thanks, you always circle the wagons when anyone in the group is facing difficult times. Now that is true FRIENDS. My Daughter is so lucky to be part of this amazing group.
Later,
Bob

"Can Man Manufacturing Facility"
Since "Can Man" has become so popular, I know most of you would like a tour of the manufacturing facility
Well here it is in all it's glory. It is snuggled deep in the pines of the Tennessee Valley and easily identified by the largest deck in the South East.
This is where they are made and welcomed into the world.
It all begins with several different sizes of tin cans and a funnel. From here they move to the paint shop
The paint shop is located on the big deck where lots of space is necessary
This is the paint pallet we use to set up the cans we are to paint. We can actually paint up to 13 cans at a time.
We keep several of the more popular colors on hand but Home Depot is 5 minutes away for emergency request of colors we don't have in stock.
It takes lots of nuts, screws, hammers, ice picks and other tools to manufacture a "Can Man"
It also requires high tech tools that require a lot of expertise to use properly
Here you see one of the workers in the assembly process. Takes years of experience to do this particular process. Since "Can Man" has a five year warranty, you have to make sure it is put together right before it leaves the facility
G-Mer can actually asssemble a "Can Man" in less than 6 hours if all the parts are painted and cut to specifications
This one is almost finished
G-Mer holds up her finished product
Welcome to the world "Can Man". This one will be delivered tomorrow to the winner of a contest we held for our customers.
I hope you enjoyed the tour as we are really proud of our facility and the "Can Man's" we bring to life.

Texas Visit
This blog is all about our wonderful stay at the Writers and Runners Home. I have put in short descriptions of what you will be looking at as to not bore you too much.
This is the front door where we were welcomed with open arms.
The Arizona State, "Can Man", was in full dress on the front porch.
Waiting in our room was the "Welcome Basket" for our personal use. Not seen in the basket was a bag of pecan sandies which was relocated to the kitchen closet where they were shared by everyone.
Here, Writer sits at the Task Manager Master Control Panel where task are identified, assigned and monitored.
Here is an example of the task created, assigned and had to be completed
One of the task was to take down the living room curtains, shake them outside in the hot air, then put them back up
We had to do the same with the kitchen curtains
Melissa checks them carefully before re-hanging
Next task was to re-stain the front door. This required ladders, tools, stain, brushes, rags and gloves. Fortunately it was a cool 97 outside
Here G-Pa has to get very low to get the bottom half of the door
These curtains, in the formal living room, had to be removed
After removal and waiting for the new curtains to be made
The was an easy task...fill in, and hide, all the scratches in the dining room table
Full view of the shower stall where there was a leakage problem
Found the cause and repaired the bottom strip
This is a picture of the bed which needed painted
After the bed was painted we painted the activity box
The freshly painted items in Hitter's Den
Painted and mounted a new top shelf in Hitter's room
The new shelf allowed Hitter to display more models
Repaired a lamp problem dealing with the hardware
G-Mer identified a problem. Came up with a solution, then fixed it.
The number one task was to find new curtain material, sew it all together, make them look perfect, then hang them, all in a short period of time
G-Mer worked day and night on the curtains and got an A+ from Writer on her task
Sorry for the poor quality of picture as it doesn't do the curtains justice.
Close-up on the design
Well "Can Man" we did our best at getting things done and so much enjoyed visiting your home. Can't thank the entire Writer family for their generosity, taking us out to fine dining most every night. The one down side to the visit was, we missed Sparky, who was in school in Arizona.

Families Identified
Some of you have already seen my first attempt at blogging, explaining that I'm new at this and some of the rules blogger's use as they do their post.
Before I get cranked up with my first real blog I will give you the fake names of all my family members. They actually have never seen their fake names so I am going to let them guess "who is who" in the family. Can't wait to see if they can guess all the real names associated with the fake names. Check them out:
G-Pa
G-Mer
Fingers
Chef
Ace
G-Raf
Queen
Writer
Runner
Sparky
Batter
Chew
Lifeguard
Kicker
Bean
So now that the players have new names I will start downloading pictures and getting busy on Family Tales Blogs. Hope to hear from you.

Getting To Know Me and My Family
This is my very first shot at blogging so I think it best if I introduce you to me, Bob and my family. Not sure why I have to introduce myself to the only people who will ever read my blogs, but just in case a stranger wonders through the blogging world, they will know a little bit of who I am.
I have been told to not use real names of family members or anyone who gets mentioned in my blogs. Now that is going to get real complicated fast as in real life and times I can't remember their real names half the time, then I have to give them fake names which can turn into a night mare. I ask, be patient until I get a handle on these do's and don'ts of blogging.
Bob....70+ years of age, happy, fairly healthy, married 50 years or close to it, 3 wonderful kids(2 girls, one boy) all working and requiring no financial assistance from us. Then comes the 7 Grand children, six boys, one girl. When all together they will be known as the Magnificent 7. Now that is what I consider the immediate family and what most of my blogs will be about. Of course like most all of you, there are brothers, sisters, cousins, Grandma's and Grandpa's that are family but to me they will be considered extended family.
My youngest daughter got me into this blogging thing but I don't want you to blame her for any of my blogs, as she has already told me that I was on my own and not to call her for help. Most of the help I would need would be spelling and grammatical error type stuff. She did ask that I be careful as to what I say as some of her friends might read a blog or two.
Probably the first official blog will come out later in the week when I get home to Alabama (not really where I live) from my visit with my daughter and her family here in Texas (she really doesn't live there).
So, I hope you enjoy my writings of my loving family and friends. I promise it will be better than this post.
Bob (please send suggestions for a good fake name for me)
